Definition: A rotary limit switch is an electromechanical device used to detect the angular displacement of a rotating part and change its output state when it reaches a predetermined angular position. In simple terms, it is like an “Angle supervisor”, when the monitored object rotates to a certain Angle, it will send a corresponding signal to inform other devices or control systems.
Basic principle: It usually contains a mechanical structure and electrical contacts. When the rotating shaft rotates, it drives the internal mechanical transmission parts to move, such as cams, rollers, etc. When the rotation reaches the set limit Angle, these mechanical parts will trigger the opening and closing action of the electrical contact, thereby changing the on-off state of the circuit, and then output the corresponding signal to complete the monitoring and signal feedback of the rotation position.
Second, the structure of the rotary limit switch

Rotation axis: is the part connected with the external rotating part, the rotation of the external part will be transferred to the rotation axis, driving it to rotate, and then trigger the internal limit detection mechanism.
Transmission mechanism: common CAM, gear, worm gear and other forms. For example, the CAM drive mechanism, the CAM will rotate with the rotating axis, when the convex part of the CAM touches the trigger element such as the micro switch, it will produce the corresponding action.
Micro switch or contact: this is a key part of the electrical signal output, when triggered by the transmission mechanism, the contact of the micro switch will be closed or disconnected, in order to change the conduction of the circuit, the output such as high level, low level such signals to indicate whether the limit position is reached.
