Second, consider electrical parameters

Rated voltage and current:
It is necessary to choose the appropriate button switch according to the voltage and current of the actual connected circuit. For example, when controlling the circuit of ordinary small household lighting fixtures, the switch with a rated voltage and current of about 220V and 5A can generally meet the demand; but to control industrial high-power motors, a button switch with a rated voltage of 380V and a rated current of tens of amps or even higher may be required. Make sure that the rated voltage and current of the selected switch are not lower than the values in the actual circuit, otherwise the touchpoint will overheat, burn out, and even cause safety accidents.

Contact resistance:


The smaller the contact resistance, the better. Smaller contact resistance means that the power loss is small when the touchpoint is turned on, the current can be transferred more efficiently, and the heat generation is also less. High-quality pushbutton switch contact resistance is often tens of milliohms or even lower. In some circuits that require high power transmission efficiency and low power consumption, this parameter should be paid more attention to. You can get the specific contact resistance value by checking the product specification or consulting the manufacturer.

III. Pay attention to mechanical properties

Operating force:
Different use scenarios have different requirements for button operating force. If it is a frequently operated device, the operating force should not be too large, otherwise long-term operation will easily make the operator tired, generally around 1-5N (Newton) is more appropriate; and for some occasions that need to prevent misoperation, the operating

may be required to be relatively large, such as the emergency stop button of some important industrial equipment. The operating force reaches about 10N to avoid accidental touch and cause false triggering. Choose the button switch with the appropriate operating force according to the actual use situation.

Mechanical life:
For scenarios with frequent use, such as equipment control buttons on automated production lines, it is necessary to choose a switch with a long mechanical life, which is generally measured by the number of operations. A good button switch mechanical life can reach hundreds of thousands or even millions of press and reset cycles. You can check the mechanical life indicators marked on the product to ensure that it can meet the requirements of the expected duration of use and operating frequency.
